About the work

  • This artwork is based on satellite Geo-information and OpenStreetMap data, this base of realism is then hand tailored for aesthetics through careful selection of scale, road width and the overall cut. Our in-house integrated cutting technology ensures each of the four layers is precisely cut, followed by thorough hand cleaning and inspection on an illuminated glass plate for flawless quality. Layers are manually assembled with precision, compressed to bond, then varnished and framed in a quality wood frame from Sweden.

  • This work is made in our Light Forest style. A combination of White Sycamore with warmer tones of brown oak. The lush green breathes life into the urban landscape, representing the parks and recreational spaces that are the lungs of the city. Contrasted with dark blue-green bodies of water. This style has a Scandinavian feel about it and does well in modern and natural interiors.

This work is made in our Classic Topographic style. The white Maple and deep red Sapele Mahogany provide a wonderful contrast and contribute to a classic topographic look. The Classic City maps of the last century are the inspiration for this woodstyle. They often featured a characteristic pink to red colour of the build-up urban centers.

  • Please follow the following guidelines to keep your art in perfect condition:

    1. Do not place your artwork in direct sunlight to prevent discoloration by the suns UV rays. A nice location with indirect light or a daylight spot light is the best choice.

    2. Keep your work between 35 and 65% relative humidity. Particularly higher values over longer periods of time can harm the wood structure beyond repair. Follow the following practical guidelines:

    a. In practice do not place it directly above or underneath heat sources (radiators, chimneys or air-co) which can lead to very dry air.
    b. Keep your art away from humid areas like the bathroom or cellars.
    c. In case you live in a very humid place consider getting a de-humidifier. Besides being great for preserving your art, your own health will benefit considerably.

Advice for display

This size and style of work is best admired from a close range. It looks great on a desk, shelf or hanging in a smaller room or dedicated corner. Since it has a stand and a wall-hook the options for display are plentiful. For a feeling of the relative size; the grey frame in the image is the size of this work compared to our other sizes and a person. Consider to combine it with natural lighting, this comes down to a light source with a colour temperature of 5000 - 5500 Kelvin. It will present the natural wood colours and structure of the work at its best.
